In The Old Testament, there were many prophesies about The Promised Saviour (The Messiah). Many spoke about how He would save people from their sins, and bring healing and wholeness to people’s lives. When He was on earth, Jesus healed all who came to Him. He forgave sins and set people free from spiritual bondage. He healed through the supernatural power of God and through His Spoken Word.
His healing work is still producing results in people’s lives today. But it is important to realise that God will use both natural and supernatural ways to help us. The main point is to look to Him for our healing and to receive His forgiveness in our lives. God’s will is always to heal and He wants to give us good things. Sometimes healing can take forms we don’t understand or is progressive. But we can trust God’s Son [through whom all things were created] to use the best means for our welfare in each situation.
The Bible includes examples of medicine being used to help people. There is a ‘Balm of Gilead’ mentioned in Old Testament Scriptures (for example in Genesis 37:25). The Bible also tell us to speak good words over our own lives and the lives of others, for kind words can also release healing into our souls and bodies.
Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body…..Rash language cuts and maims, but there is healing in the words of the wise. Proverbs 16:24 (NLT) and Proverbs 12:18 (MSG)
Ultimately, Jesus is our Healer; He is the greatest ‘Balm of Gilead’ and the greatest ‘Word of Kindness’ that can be spoken over our lives. The greatest healing of all is found at The Cross, where Jesus paid for all sin, for all time. We simply receive His Sacrifice of Love that has healing power to go deep into our very soul and produce eternal life that begins in our hearts the moment put our trust in Him. Lets look to Him. And lets speak blessing over one another, to help heal and restore.
